“Let your eyes look straight ahead; fix your gaze directly before you.”
Proverbs 4:25 NIV
When I’m playing tag with Yui and I’m running after her she often tries to turn her head to see how close I am. The problem is she cannot keep running straight when doing this, and sometimes she falls to the ground because she is concern of what is behind her. Or sometimes she would not realize of some object in front of her because she was looking behind.
We cannot live our lives looking to the past the same way we cannot walk straight if we are looking behind.
This scripture teaches me to focus in what is directly before me. Not behind me, not on a far place ahead, but directly in front.
It is not about arriving to the goal I’m setting, but it is about the journey I’m walking to that goal.
Father, help me to look straight ahead. Help me to not only focus in a goal but to see the journey that I’m walking towards that goal. Help me to accomplish the things that needs to be done today. In Jesus’ name, I pray.
