God’s Heart

Do I have any pleasure in the death of the wicked,” declares the Lord God, “rather than that he should turn from his ways and live?

Ezekiel 18:23 NASB

Our gracious Lord God wants everyone to turn from their wicked ways and come to Him. God hurts to see one of His children die forever separated from Him. There is no one that He doesn’t desire to be with in eternity. Jesus shows this through all His interactions with those who people deemed unworthy, or untouchable. He is questioned by those who thought of themselves holy and righteous, and His reply is, “And Jesus answered and said to them, “It is not those who are well who need a physician, but those who are sick.  “I have not come to call the righteous but sinners to repentance.” (Luke 5:31-32 NASB) We have a duty to have the same heart and mindset as Jesus. To desire that all will turn from their ways and live. This is the Father’s love. He is patient and so desires that all come to Him. It is our job to share this Gospel of love and grace offered through Jesus.

I need to have my own mindset and heart set back toward Jesus. My eyes need to be able to see others as loved and desired by God. I confess there are times that I have shunned away from having the right mindset and heart set because someone harmed me. Who am I to judge others? That is God’s job, so I should leave the judging to Him. It is so easy to be with those who you like and even likes you back. It is harder to share with those you feel are “different” or don’t fit your image of someone with which to share the gospel. I confess I need to swallow my pride and serve even those who have wronged me.

Lord Jesus, please forgive me for my pride and fear of sharing the Gospel with people I may not get along with. Please grant me a heart that mirrors yours and loves people with a whole heart. Help me to have my heart set on you and your love for everyone. I love you and ask for your help. In Your Precious Name, Jesus! Amen!
