Shipwreck

Scripture:

“This command I entrust you, Timothy, my son, in accordance with the prophecies previously made concerning you, that by them you fight the good fight, keeping faith and good conscience, which some have rejected and suffered shipwreck in regards to their faith”

1Timothy 1:18-19 NASB

Observation:

Paul sent Timothy to the church in Ephesus so he could deal with problems related to false teaching inside the early church. Then, this letter he addresses it to Timothy afterward.

A sentence that calls my attention is “some have rejected and suffered shipwreck in regards to their faith”.

There are so many people in this situation: suffered shipwreck in regards to their faith.

Paul asks Timothy to:

  1. Fight the good fight;
  2. Keeping faith;
  3. Keeping good conscience.

Application:

These are the 3 keys that I must not reject in order to don’t suffer shipwreck reads my faith. The motivation to keep fighting this battle; keep feeding myself through God’s word in order to my faith keep growing (the faith comes through listening to God’s Word); keep the good conscience (avoid fall into temptations and sin).

Prayer:

Jesus, thank you for this Friday. We are coming back this Sunday to a limited version of our normal services. I pray that you help us to follow the guidelines so soon, the whole church can meet together. In Your Name, I pray.
