“A little leaven leavens the whole lump of dough.”
Galatians 5:9 NASB
The apostle Paul speaks against false doctrines that started inside the church. Some were saying that if the non-jews wanted to be accepted by God they must receive circumcision, which was part of the law of Moses. But Paul fights the false teaching inside the church. He teaches us that:
“For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision means anything, but faith working through love.”
Paul knows that it only takes one wrong person to infect all the others with wrong thoughts and actions. One wrong person to start the division of a church. One wrong person to start teaching false doctrines. And suddenly, that one person infected many others.
False teachings are so intense that Paul even says in verse 12, “I wish that those who are troubling you would even mutilate themselves.”
We should not take it lightly when a distorted gospel is been preached.
Jesus, thank you for this Saturday. It is the middle of March and today there is snow in Yokohama hahaha. I pray that you continue to help us to worship you, even in this chaotic world that we live today, with people fearing the coronavirus all over the world. Help us to grow as a church. Help us to care for one another, in body and in spirit. In your name, I pray.
