The Shorter Way Isn’t Always The Best

“Now when Pharaoh had let the people go, God did not lead them by the way of the land of the Philistines, even though it was near; for God said, “The people might change their minds when they see war, and return to Egypt.””

Exodus 13:17 NASB

God did not lead the people through the shorter way because if the people went through it the challenges they would face would make them go back to their old lives, to slavery. Instead, God sent them through a longer way and they wandered for 40 years in the desert.

1. The shorter way is not always the best way.

2. God does not let us fight the battles that we are not ready.

3. The deserts in our lives will shape and prepare us.

Heavenly Father, thank you that you always protects me. I pray that my deserts will be places that will shape me so I am able to fight the battles ahead. Thank you that you guide me, not through the shorter or easier way but the way you know is the best for me. Help me to keep walking on the path following you day and night. In Jesus name I pray.
