Genesis 1:1 “In the beginning God…”
All the way from the very beginning of thing God was, is and will be. We may come up with up so many ideas and plans, but “In the beginning – God. “ Jeremiah 29:11 states, “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.” God knows everything from before we ever think about them. Our plans that we make need to have God at the beginning of them. Everything we set out to do needs to have God at the beginning of them. He knows what plans He has, He knows His will and we need to acknowledge Him in all of our ways and He will make our path straight (Proverbs 3:6- paraphrase mine). We all want things to go smoothly. We want our plans to work out to be successful. That is why we must put him first. Matthew 6:33 says, “But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” This year needs to start with God and also continue with God always being first. When God ceases to be first, that is where we may lose out on not only His blessing, we may find that things may end up more difficult and even leading to failure.
As I look to this New Year in 2020, I foresee lots of planning and responsibilities. I know that based upon my personality and ability, I tend to lean on my own abilities and experience. I know that God has blessed me with an ability to think on my feet, but I know that this is also a problem as well. I know that because I am able to draw from experiences and my strengths, I can be too reliant upon them to pull me through my responsibilities. However, I need to take the next step in maturity and learn to plan more effectively and starting out by opening up my heart, mind, spirit to God in the plans. He knows the plans; He is there from the very get-go and desires me to come to know His will. I commit myself to seek Him for guidance in wisdom this year in 2020.
Lord Jesus, as I step out into a new year, I thank you for the experiences and growth that you have given me in 2019. I commit my plans that I have and will make into your hands and I ask that you show me your will in my life. Please help me to have an open heart, mind, and spirit to You. Please direct me as you see fit that I may serve and glorify You! I love you and ask this in Your Name, Jesus! Amen!
