“That is why we never give up. Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed every day. For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever! So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.”
2 Corinthians 4:16-18 NLT
The reason why Paul kept always pushing forward even with the sufferings and challenges he had is that he knew the present troubles produces for us a glory that will last forever. So, he rather not focus on the problems but on what it is producing in us but on the unseen. All his chalenges was shaping and molding him to be more like Christ.
His focus was not in the present or temporal things, but in the future and the eternal.
When we are suffering, it is easy to give up. But the secret is to renew our spirit every day. It is to change the perspective which we see now, not the present suffering but the eternal glory. If we focus our life in the present only, in what we can see, when we feel that our bodies cannot take anymore, we will give up. But when we focus our lives in the eternal things, even our bodies are dying, our spirits will feel renewed, because our hope is in Jesus.
Thank you Jesus that you give us strengths to never give up, to keep pushing forward, to keep looking to what we cannot see. Renew our spirit every day as we seek you and put your king down first in our lives. In Jesus name I pray.
