“Agrippa interrupted him. “Do you think you can persuade me to become a Christian so quickly?” Paul replied, “Whether quickly or not, I pray to God that both you and everyone here in this audience might become the same as I am, except for these chains.””
Acts of the Apostles 26:28-29 NLT
Paul was accused and was in jail waiting for the judgment. At that time Felix was the governor. Two years has passed by, Paul was still waiting for his judgment and Felix was succeeded Porcius Festus.
When Paul was give the he opportunity to speak, he said:
“But God has protected me right up to this present time so I can testify to everyone, from the least to the greatest…”
Acts of the Apostles 26:22a NLT
Even through the trials and persecutions he had suffer, even been in prison and forgotten for 2 years, in his opportunity to defend himself he said God had protected him and brought him there so he could speak to everyone about his hope in Jesus. He spoke to the previous governor Felix, to the current governor Festus and even to the king Agrippa.
Some people become followers of Jesus very quickly. Others take a long time. But there are a few things that Pauls teaches me:
1. Use every opportunity to announce the Gospel.
2. Keep doing it even without quickly results.
3. Pray to God that everyone to whom I testify, one day will also become believers.
Paul also teaches me about patience. He endure 2 years inside the prison just waiting to be judged. He was innocent of the accusations. On those 2 years inside the prison he could think about many things he could have done for Christ if he was outside. But he knew that he was in that place, because God had something prepared for him.
Jesus, thank you for today. Recently I am not able to participate in ministry as I wished because all the things life has put us through. Feeling like Paul, maybe I cannot see it now but I am where I am because You prepared something for me. So thank you that You had protected me to this present time. In Jesus name I pray.
