Distorting the Word of God

The devil led him to Jerusalem and had him stand on the highest point of the temple. “If you are the Son of God,” he said, “throw yourself down from here. For it is written: ‘He will command his angels concerning you to guard you carefully; they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.’” Jesus answered, “It is said: ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test.’”

Luke 4:9-12 NIV

Jesus was on the desert for 40 days where he got tempted by the devil in every way during those days.

It calls my attention when I see the devil using the Word of God to tempt Jesus. And Jesus uses the Word of God to fight against it as well.

Sometimes people use the Word of God to justify their attitude and their own desires and that is very dangerous. The devil will try to mislead us, to make us fall into temptation if our heart is not in the right place. He will use every excuse, even distorting the Word of God to fill up our own desires.

Today we have a course called Growing Deep Growing Strong. In our lives must keep growing our roots on the Word of God. If our roots aren’t deep enough, the devil will mislead us to fall into temptation and sin against God.

When we have a correct understanding of the Scripture, we will put on the full armor of God: the belt of the truth, the breastplate of righteousness, the gospel of the peace on our feet, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit.

Father, thank you for this Saturday. Thank you for the people attending this GDGS and their desire to grow deeper and stronger. As their commit their hearts to this church, let us all proclaim the gospel in Japan for the growth of your kingdom here. Help us to don’t fall into the misleading interpretations from the devil, but let us be firm in you by reading and understanding correctly your Word. In Jesus name I pray.
