“It is good to praise the Lord and make music to your name, O Most High, proclaiming your love in the morning and your faithfulness at night,”
Psalm 92:1-2 NIV
“For you make me glad by your deeds, Lord; I sing for joy at what your hands have done. How great are your works, Lord, how profound your thoughts!”
Psalm 92:4-5 NIV
Why do we worship God? Why do we sing songs to his name?
The psalmist says it is:
- To proclaim his love
- To proclaim his faithfulness
- Because he makes us glad
- To show joy at what God has done
- To look back and recognize who God is
Worship isn’t just songs. It is about proclaiming (to announce) day and night who God is and what He has done.
To praise God’s name should not be limited for Sunday or when the church gather together. Worship is a constant act of proclamation in our lives. It is to proclaim His love, His faithfulness, His deeds and His thoughts.
How am I proclaiming who God is and what He has done on:
- My family?
- My neighbour?
- My work?
- My church?
Graceful Lord, thank you for this day that I am able to worship you. Tomorrow is Sunday, where your church will gather together to celebrate who you are and what you’ve done in our lives. But let us not be ungrateful people who remember you only on Sunday but help us to be people who worship you everyday and every time. In Jesus name I pray.
