His Provision

1 Peter 4:10-11 NIV
10Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms. 11If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God. If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen.

Observation:
I am going through a season of learning to serve my family. It. Is. hard. Why? Primarily because I am doing everything based only on my strength. I am also finding that my strength is not enough. It is not enough to deal with the expectations of everyone. It is not enough to spread myself so thin that I want to give in. God will provide enough to serve Him and do His will. He will provide for the assignment we are given by Him. He has gifted us with special gifts and abilities that we are to operate in for which He will provide the strength and all that is necessary for us to accomplish it. I have to ask where am I operating that I am finding myself running short. I am coming to the conclusion that if I am doing things that are not leading to God being praised, I am doing it for the wrong reason. I may be doing it just to fulfill someone’s expectation of me. I may be doing it to gain favor with someone. To whom are the praises going? Peter answers that, “… so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ.”

Application:
Let my actions, though mundane or routine, be all for the praise of God. Let my gifts be to serve Him and serve others. Let me always in a place that my actions are not to just please others or fulfill what they want from me. Rather, let me be in a place that I am doing the assignment God has for me. I cannot be what everyone expects me to be, but I can be who God has made me to be. I need to let go of my expectations of what I think others are expecting me to do or be and I chose to serve Jesus for His glory and not mine.

Prayer*
Lord Jesus, thank you for blessing me. Please clear my mind and heart of the things that entangle me and stop me from serving You with the gifts and abilities You have blessed me with. I ask that you take my burden I carry in exchange for yours. I choose to do everything to please You and I also choose to use your strength, love, and heart. I love you and thank you for loving me! In Your Precious Name, Jesus. Amen!
