“My people, remember what Balak king of Moab plotted and what Balaam son of Beor answered. Remember your journey from Shittim to Gilgal, that you may know the righteous acts of the Lord.””
— Micah 6:5
We are forgetful. We forget things so easily and quickly. Micah is telling the people to remember what the Lord has done. He calls us to remember to remind us who the Lord is. It is a call to remember His promises and to persevere in hope in Him(Heb 6:19).
I find that hope and faith are based in remembering. When we remember who our Lord is and what He has done and is doing in our life, our view changes. In trials and challenges, recalling His provision and help will take our focus off of the challenge and put them on Him.
Remembering also helps us to filter out sin and lies. By remembering who I am in Him and allowing the Holy Spirit to minister to me to resist sin.
I need to write down more things. I know I have been slack on writing down life lessons and even small miracles that happened to me. I need to remember, but because I am forgetful, I lose these treasures.
Jesus, thank you for all you have done for me. I am forgetful and slip into focusing on problems and not you. Please forgive me and please bring your promises and what you have done for me to mind when I start slipping. I do love you and want to grow in you. In your Name, Jesus, Amen!
