While It is Still ‘Today’

Remember what it says: “Today when you hear his voice, don’t harden your hearts as Israel did when they rebelled.”

Hebrews 3:15

In the past, Israel did not believe in God’s protection. At the time of conquerer the Promised Land they fail in believe that God would help them to win against the giants living in that land. As a result of their unbelief they wandered for 40 years in the desert.

Like the Israelites, when our hearts does not believe we turn away from the living God. The author says in some verse before to

“You must warn each other every day, while it is still ‘today,’ so that none of you will be deceived by sin and hardened against God.”

Hebrews 3:13

While we still have “today” we should turn our hearts to God because there will be a time where there is no more “today” either because of our death or because of the day Jesus will be back. So the time to start to believe in God is today.

The practical application from this scripture is:

  • to stay in fellowship with other believers so we are able to talk daily about our believes;
  • to fight against sin together;
  • to encourage each other with love and care.

Lord, thank you for this Saturday. Tomorrow is the 15th anniversary of our church. Thank you for all You have done and what You will do. I pray for those that along the way stop coming to church and aren’t fellowshipping with other believers in any church. May your Holy Spirit uses us to bring them back home, so we are able to overcome problems together and encourage each other. In Jesus precious name I pray.
