“Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity. Until I come, devote yourself to the public reading of Scripture, to preaching and to teaching. Do not neglect your gift, which was given you through prophecy when the body of elders laid their hands on you.”
1 Timothy 4:12-14 NIV
Timothy was one of the leaders of the primitive church. The Bible does not specify his age, but it is mentioned that he was very young. He fought against false teachings inside the early church. Probably Paul heard about struggles that Timothy was having and decided to encourage and guide him. He also adverts Timothy in “do not neglect your gift”.
It doesn’t matter the age I am, I should be an example in the way I speak, in the way I decide things, in the way I show love to others and how my faith is reflecting on my actions. The gifts that God has given me shall not be put aside, but it should be used to the edification of the church.
Heavenly Father, thank you for the gifts you gave me through the work of the Holy Spirit in my life. Help me to use these gifts to edify the church. In Jesus name I pray.
