“And all those who had believed were together and had all things in common; and they began selling their property and possessions and were sharing them with all, as anyone might have need. Day by day continuing with one mind in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they were taking their meals together with gladness and sincerity of heart, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord was adding to their number day by day those who were being saved.”
Acts 2:44-47 NASB
Christians do fellowship since the beginning of the church. It was important for them to support each other and to share the blessings God has given to them. They were united by the love of Christ, and with gladness and sincerity of hearts, they also shared all their possessions.
Fellowship is an important aspect of a church. Because church isn’t a physical building or structure, but it is organic and alive. It is made by people. People must always have the sense of belonging to somewhere. A person only feels part of a church when he or she has fellowship with their beloved brothers and sisters in Christ. It helps us to keep growing, walking in faith and help each other in our needs.
Lord, help us to be a church like the primitive church, where their hearts were so unified that they were always looking for the needs of each other and sharing whatever they had. In your name I pray.
