“Faith shows the reality of what we hope for; it is the evidence of things we cannot see.”
This is one of my favorite chapters of the Bible. It starts giving the meaning of the word “faith”. It seems that the author could not explain faith just by those words in the first verse, instead, he use the whole chapter to do so, showing us examples of people that lived by faith. They are known as “The Heroes of Faith”.
The whole chapter talks about faithful men and women that lived in the Old Testament. The chapter starts and finish warning us about an specific aspect of faith in the Old Testament: the assurance to receive what God has promised, but it didn’t arrive yet.
All those people lived their lives putting their trust in God alone. They lived their lives knowing that what God had promised them wasn’t for this world but for the heavenly one, and not for their present but the future.
in Hebrews 11:16 says:
“But they were looking for a better place, a heavenly homeland. That is why God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared a city for them.”
I need to live a life in which at the end of it, God would not be ashamed to be called my God. And this is conquered by living by faith. The time on Earth is nothing when compared to the eternity in heavens.
Thank you Lord to shows me to much examples of people that lived by faith. Trusting in you alone for everything they got in their lives. Help me to be a man which honor you in every way. In Jesus name I pray.
