“You have answered correctly,” Jesus replied. “Do this and you will live.” But he wanted to justify himself, so he asked Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?” Luke 10:28-29
Jesus challenges us in the parable of the “The Parable of the Good Samaritan” to love people who are different, who think differently, who have a different vision. Jesus challenges us to love not the “good” but the “bad”, not the “healthy” but the “sick”. It`s interesting that just after this parable we have the story of Martha and Mary where we are shown the place where this unconditional love is received: at the feed of Jesus.
Let 2018 become a year where we are at the feet of Jesus in order to be able to love the one who is different: our family members, people at school. at the working place, at church. There is so much pain and brokenness in this world. Neither rules, religion or politics can give us the peace and unity we are looking for. More than ever we need the love and grace of Jesus.
Lord, fill me with your love, your thoughts, your vision! Help me to be able to become more like Jesus in 2018.
