“Three different times I begged the Lord to take it away. Each time he said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me.”
2 Corinthians 12:8-9
In this chapter, Paul speaks some really cool and super natural experiences he had with Jesus. He does not give so much details about it. But later he mentions about a burden was given to him, so his proud would not grow in his heart. He prayed that the Lord would take it away, but Paul learnt that through out his weakness, Christ’s power can work through him.
So many times burdens are in our lives, so our spiritual pride would not grow inside us. We look for answers, but maybe those times God is telling us: “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness”.
Paul does not make it clear what his weakness is. It could be a situation in relationship, or a illness in his body, or even in his financial life… but he teaches us that when we know how weak we are, and how depend we are of God’s grace, then the power of Christ can work best in us.
By knowing our weakness, we can see God working through it, and realize that His grace is all we need.
- Whenever I feel weak, remember that His grace is enough.
- Whenever I feel weak, remember that Christ’s power works best in weakness.
Lord, thank you for the day you prepared for me today. I pray you remind me in times of weakness, that your power can overcome that. That you work best when we know we are weak and dependent of you, and in your grace alone.
